Ganapati 

This is the most heavily worked Ganapati in the collection, the trunk curling to the right holding a pot with  sweets. 

The complexion is a pale rose-ivory, modelled entirely in stipple: thousands of tiny dots of warm pink built up along the trunk. Against it the ornament is worked in dense gold — circular jewel discs at the shoulder and knee, tiered collars, ear discs the size of the eye, anklets, and a crown that spreads across the upper left of the panel.

Behind the head is a great fan of leaf scroll in gold, green and coral, and at the right edge stands a vertical band of lotus buds in turquoise and rose, each one outlined and ruled in white — the border motif taken straight from the base of a temple wall and used here as the panel's closing wall.

The ground is a flat vermilion-orange laid in even stipple and scattered with small white star-flowers, a device that keeps the empty field alive without drawing attention away from the figure.

The framing is deliberately formal: a deep brown moulding with a black lip, and inside it a narrow silver-etched fillet of running scrollwork that echoes the drawn ornament. The artist's signature and 'Dec 2021' sit at the lower left of the field.
